What is Like Minds U?
Like Minds U is a programme to assist creative companies in developing a social media product or service to take to market. An intensive, 6 day course spread out over 3 months, Like Minds U will lead you through the development and deployment of a social media product or service, combining tutorials from world class experts and direct hands-on facilitation to work through the nuts and bolts of your new business opportunity.
What will I get out of it?
You will have developed a new social media product or service to take to your clients and to market. The sole aim of Like Minds U is to help you innovate a new social media product or service for your clients or consumers that generates revenue for your business. All lectures, all facilitation, all feedback, all reading – everything – is designed to move your bottom line.You will also benefit from being introduced to the Like Minds Alumni and also our partners and sponsors. We are keen to provide contacts for you with whom you can start doing business.
When is it?
Like Minds U runs over 3 months in the form of 6 intensive full day sessions.The day sessions are on:

  • Wednesday 4th April
Who is it for?
The first Like Minds U is designed for small to medium sized creative companies, based in the South West [excluding Cornwall] who know that social media products services are critical for meeting their customer’s demands within the next 3 years. Specifically, Like Minds U is designed for PR firms, marketing agencies, game creators, web design companies, event managers, interactive designers, and digital producers or all kinds.
How much does Like Minds U cost?
Like Minds U is part funded by the Creative Industries iNet, and is £995 + VATfor the whole year, including all sessions, books, material and access to video recordings. The full cost would otherwise be £2,995 + VAT.Additional funding is available for each company to cover up to 50% of the enrolment fee.
How can I pay for Like Minds U?
You can pay the full amount, or we can bill you monthly at £350+VAT. We are happy to make this arrangement to help you easily pay for your participating in Like Minds U.
How is Like Minds U funded?
Like Minds U is supported by the Creative Industries iNet. The Creative Industries iNet (Innovation Network) is a £3.2 million programme of support designed to help the South West’s creative businesses thrive and advance the area’s growing reputation as a global creative centre of excellence. Working with emerging and established companies, the iNet is developing bold products and business models, exploring new opportunities and ideas, and connecting creatives to a community of innovators across the region and around the world. The iNet is part of Solutions for Business, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and led by South West Screen.
Who can apply?
Companies must be from one of the following counties to receive the funding from iNets: Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Devon. Cornwall is excluded. Companies must also be creative service providers, as per the examples above.Unfortunately companies from Cornwall cannot receive the funding to do Like Minds U.
Who are the tutors?
The Like Minds Alumni are our tutors on Like Minds U. Each day will have at least 3 of our Like Minds Alumni tutoring.
Where are the sessions held?
All sessions are held in Exeter city centre. Our venues for the year are to be confirmed shortly.
What if I can’t make a session?
You may nominate a substitute to attend in your place. Additionally, all lectures are filmed for your repeat viewing pleasure. Discussion sessions after the lecture are not recorded for confidentiality.
What will I learn?
This isn’t about “how to tweet.” Like Minds U is an intense, product development course that will teach you the essentials of building successful Social Media programmes, from strategy and integration to management and measurement. You will also learn the proven models and frameworks whilst learning about the latest technologies and how to effectively use them.
What is each day like?
There are 5 elements to each of the 6 days:

  • A lecture on the development of social media programmes, and the productising of that programme, led by an industry expert from Like Minds’s Alumni
  • A lecture in social media technology, models or concepts, led by an industry expert from Like Minds’s Alumni
  • Workshopping between the Alumni and yourself, based on the presented material, in order to tailor the information to the your needs
  • Group discussion with question and answer, strictly off the record
  • Scenario testing, where we simulate an agency-client relationship, and advise the clients on different strategies according
