Maintain a Good Level of Communication

Your team will want to be kept in the loop regarding any ongoing goals or even deadlines. For this reason, it is essential that you communicate with them and that you also inform them about anything that is going on within your organisation.

You also need to encourage them to give you some feedback regarding your business practices too. If they feel as though you aren’t doing something effectively then you need to listen to what they have to say so that you can make your business more efficient.

Try and Build a Positive Relationship

You need to provide your team with a good level of support as this will help them to build their confidence and it will also help you to acknowledge their achievements too. Everyone needs to know what is expected of them at the end of the day, but it’s still important that you work with them to give them the support they need on a motivational level.

Be Realistic

If you are under pressure and if you need some help, then don’t be afraid to ask.

Admit to your team that you made a mistake and that you are completely owning it.

When you do this, you will give your team the chance to get to know you better and they may even feel much more comfortable approaching you too.

A good leader will always need to assert their authority and they also need to make good decisions on behalf of the whole team as well. There is absolutely no space for flakiness when it comes to leadership, so you need to do what you feel as though is best at all times.


You need to look after your team as much as possible.  It doesn’t take much for you to invest in an employee benefits scheme and it doesn’t take a lot for you to take your team out for dinner, or even hand out a gift voucher to someone who has worked hard that month. Don’t underestimate the power of appreciation.
